I had the pleasure of being invited to join First Lady Michelle Obama‘s press pool today for her visit to Howard University where she spoke to students along with Howard University Freshman Nick Cannon and late night television host Seth Meyers.
I woke up at 8am, put on a crispy white shirt, called my Uber to head to the White House. It was raining and traffic was bad, so I was almost late arriving and I was about to panic with the thought that I was going to miss getting in the van for the First Lady’s motorcade. I made it.
I love black vans with Secret Service escorts going down Pennsylvania Avenue while people wave. Can you say check on my bucket list! OK, so we get to Howard, where as you know, I work as co-host of “Afternoons with Tony, Mo & George” and the First Lady steps out and we step out right behind her. Into the auditorium we go. I see a bunch of familiar faces from Howard including President Frederick and lots of others. I just interviewed Nick Cannon a few days ago, so it was great running into him again.
Seth Meyers was taping the event for his late night show which will air next week and he introduced Nick and then First Lady Michelle Obama. The students, about 250 of them, went wild. They did not know she was there. After the applause died down, check out my video to see what happened next.
