    WHUR NEWSBREAK 12/19/09 @ 5:30AM "WOMEN'S PERSONAL SAFETY"

Tuesday, December 15, 2009, 07:44 PM EST [General]

Tis the season to shop til you drop.  But it's also a time for predators to be on the prowl looking for victims.  This Saturday I will speak with two Personal Safety Experts who teach women how we can safeguard ourselves from a robbery or attack.  It's called The Women's Personal Safety Network.  My guests are Samuel Scott and Hersh Sandhoo.  Their website is thewpsn.com.  Tune in to WHUR 96.3FM Saturday, December 19th @ 5:30am.

Fame has not messed up Fantasia

I had a chance to interview The American Idol who's now starring in The Color Purple at the Kennedy Center. She is very genuine. No diva stuff at all. Fantasia greeted me with a hug, southern girl style. We immediately connected as mothers. She has an 8 year old daughter. I have two girls. In my opinion, Fantasia does a great job as Celie in the stage play. We know she can sing but she becomes the character. I almost forgot it was Fantasia up on stage. That's a good indicator of a long and successful career as an actress. I wish Fantasia all the very best. She has spoken about her challenges as a celebrity and her more personal struggle with reading. Just as her character, Fantasia has found her way out of the darkness. You go girl!

At one point will the hatred stop?  An 88-year-old man shoots and kills an African-American security guard at the Holocaust Memorial Museum.  Senseless.  The gunman lives and the victim dies. Stop the MADNESS!!!

    What Happened Lakers?

I went to bed last night hoping that I would wake up this morning to good news about my Lakers.  But Taylor Thomas spoiled my day.  She announced the Lakers had fallen to the Magic.  It's my fault.  If I could have just held on a while longer, but I was sleepy.  Sorry Lakers you deserve better from me.  Thursday I am committed to staying up well beyond midnight and we will be VICTORIOUS.

We are doing this because in leaving your message on our Guestbook, you are showing us that you are working as hard as we are to save the lives of our African American Children - and therefore you deserve this much. Keep in mind that we are interested in reading your own "Personal" feelings about this Epidemic. We look forward to reading your words on our Guestbook. (Be sure to turn up your Speakers – there is R&B Music on every page!)

I, and the Children who manage to survive this Epidemic, will never be able to thank you enough.
