An infant is dead and his parents have confessed to his death…
A community remains in shock and in sadness following the arrest and confession by two parents in the death of their 3-month-old son. Both 32-year-old Antoine and Geneice Petty remain in police custody this morning. Investigators say Antoine admitted to shaking and then punching the baby to make it stop crying. The mother Geneice has admitted to helping her husband bury the infant in a shallow grave in a wooded area behind Parkdale High School.
Metro begins a day-long public hearing on late night service cuts…
Metro leaders are looking at making some permanent cuts to late night service to crews will have more time to make repairs. Today the public can weigh in on the four options from 12:30 to 10 tonight at the transit agency Headquarters on 5th Street in NW. Some residents and lawmakers like DC Mayor Muriel Bowser are questioning why additional time is needed, noting that other transit systems do it without affecting vital service hours.
Black Lives DC releases a new video involving an incident with Metro Transit Police …
The DC Chapter of the Black Lives Matter movement has released a new video that questions the use of force by Metro Transit Police on a young A.A. woman. The 3 minute video shows a Transit Officer at the Columbia Heights station kicking the feet from under the 18-year-old woman who was handcuffed, in an effort to make her sit down. The crime, officers say she had a bag of chips and a lollipop and she would not put them up or leave the station.
