Five killed in powerful storms in the South…

The death toll from powerful storms that swept through parts of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Florida is up to 5. Four in S.E. Alabama and one in Florida. Parts of Dallas were even affected by lighting and strong winds.

A new Congress is sworn in today…

At Noon today the 115th Congress will be officially sworn into office. Sources say the Republican lead House and Senate plan to immediately gut the powers of Office of Congressional Ethics which was created to monitor members in Congress. Donald Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway tells NBC’s “Today” show that constituents can still lodge a complaint if they have one. At 2:15 VP Joe Biden will swear in the new members of the Senate, including Mayland’s Chris Van Hollen who replaces retiring Senator Barbara Mikulski.

Howard County investigators plan to release more details in New Year’s Day triple shooting…

Later today Howard County Police plan to update the public on the investigation into the attempted triple murder suicide in Ellicott City. The accused 15-year-old male gunman remains in critical condition after shooting himself in the head. Before that he shot & killed a 5-year-old girl and injured her mother who came to her aide.
