Metro announces 100 layoffs…

We are just receiving word that Metro Officials are reacting to a $275 (million) dollar expected budget shortfall in 2017 with layoff’s. 100 people from mangers to union employees will be let go today. In an email to employee’s this morning GM Paul Wiedefeld said more cuts are coming.

Metro Start’s Surge number 10 tomorrow…

This time tomorrow the red line rail service will be suspended between Fort Totten and the No/MA Galudette Metro stations for Safe Track Surge # 10. The work will result in the closure of the Rhode Island Avenue and Brookland Metro Stations for 25 days. Some 200 thousand rush hour riders a day will be looking for alternative ways to get to and from work until the work ends on November 22nd.

Early voting continues in the Metro…

Early voting seems to be going well in DC and Maryland. Today the District expanded the option to locations in each of the 8 wards. The polls will stay open daily from 8:30 to 7pm until November 4th. In Maryland early voting will run daily from 8 am to 8 pm until November 3rd. In the state of Virginia, residents can take part in “In Person Absentee Voting” until November 5th. A bond hearing is set for woman who stabbed and killed a teen in DC…

A bond hearing is set for today for 18-year-old Kayla Jones. Jones is charged in the stabbing death of 17-year-old Kaelia Minor following a fight on a metro bus. Jones says she acted in self-defense.
