Trump, Pence Tout Carrier Deal, Reduced Metro Hours

Trump, Pence Tout Carrier Deal

President-elect Donald Trump and VP-elect Mike Pence are in Indiana today to tout the new deal with Carrier. The air conditioner maker has agreed to keep one-thousand jobs in the Hoosier State, instead of moving them to Mexico. Pence is the governor of Indiana. This afternoon’s rally is being held at a Carrier plant in Indianapolis. This evening, Trump and Pence will hold a rally in Cincinnati to thank Ohio for helping to swing the election his way.

WMATA Board Votes For Reduced Hours

WMATA’s executive committee is green-lighting plans for shorter Metro hours — for now. In a contentious vote today, committee members gave the thumbs-up to closing the rail system at 11:30 p.m. during the week, 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 p.m. on Sunday. The plan would be in effect for at least two years starting on July 1st. The vote wasn’t without controversy, though. Board Chairman Jack Evans is considering a veto of the ruling because he would prefer later service after only one year.

National Christmas Tree Lighting Tonight

President Obama and the First Lady will light the National Christmas Tree for the last time this evening. The 94th annual event is taking place on the Ellipse at the White House. James Taylor, Garth Brooks, Kelly Clarkson, Chance the Rapper, and Yolanda Adams are just a few of the performers to attend.
