About Me
Traci LaTrelle, got her start in Radio during her freshman year at Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina. Her on-air talents and gift for recognizing quality popular music caught the attention of a nearby radio station and her career took off from there. LaTrelle's 20 year career in radio spans many markets including Greensboro and Raleigh, North Carolina; Norfolk, Virginia; New Orleans, Louisiana, a short stint at Arista Records in D.C. to name a few. LaTrelle also spent five years in Miami, Florida, where she was Music Director and the top-rated Mid-day Personality at Hot 105 WHQT. After leaving Miami, Traci LaTrelle became a pioneer in the Satellite Radio industry, when she was hand-picked to become the first Director in the Country to program a "Neo-Soul" Radio Station on XM Satellite Radio, called "The Flow" on XM Channel 61. From there, Traci landed another dream job at WHUR in Washington, D.C., where she is Music Director and occasionally gets behind the microphone on a fill in basis. As a professional voice-over talent, LaTrelle's voice can be heard in cities all over the Country.
Although LaTrelle is technically proficient, her true gift of being able to recognize a classic hit has become a proven trend in Urban AC Radio. LaTrelle has been nominated for several industry awards including Radio & Record's Music Director of the Year Award, (Urban Adult), Gavin's Music Director of the Year Award (Urban Adult). Most recently, LaTrelle won 1st place in an industry competition and was considered Radio Programmer with the "Best Ears In The Business." She walked away with $25,000.00 by being the most accurate among her peers in determining where songs would place on the charts. Traci LaTrelle says, "QUALITY music is what people really want, and as Music Director of WHUR, I’m committed to delivering "Real Music, Real Soul" all over the World.”
