Another black man has been shot and killed by police, less than 24 hours after the Alton Sterling‘s murder went viral. Philando Castile, of Falcon Heights, Minn., was shot and killed by officers Wednesday evening during a routine traffic stop for a broken taillight. According to the victim’s girlfriend, Castile informed officers he was carrying a weapon prior to reaching for his license and registration. The officer proceeded to shoot Castile four times in the arm and in his side.
Castile’s girlfriend, who was also in the vehicle with her daughter in the backseat. broadcasted the ordeal on social media using Facebook Live. Castile succumbed to his injuries.
Castile’s mother spoke out this morning to several news outlets. She shared that her son has no criminal record. “He was a law-abiding citizen killed by the law,” she told CNN.
