Carrie Fisher Dead At 60
Actress Carrie Fisher is dead at the age of 60. A family member confirmed the star’s death this morning. Fisher was on a flight from London to Los Angeles International airport Friday when she suffered a major heart attack. Fisher is best known for playing Princess Leia in the original “Star Wars” trilogy and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Her other credits include the films “Shampoo,” “The Blues Brothers,” and “Hannah And Her Sisters.” She is considered Hollywood royalty, born to Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher.
Missing Yoga Instructor’s Body Found, Suspect In Custody
The family of a local actress and yoga instructor is heartbroken after learning of her murder. A suspect is in custody for the apparent murder of a 46-year-old Tricia McCauley, whose body was discovered this morning inside her car in Northwest DC. A passerby spotted McCauley’s car along with a person of interest inside it, and alerted police. McCauley was a longtime District resident, and police say they do not believe she and suspect knew each other.
Dozens Arrested In Mall Brawls
Business is back to normal today at malls across the country after a chaotic day full of disturbances, evacuations and panic. More than 40 people were arrested in brawls police say mostly involved groups of teenagers. But bogus reports of gunfire were spread through social media chatter, leading to some tense situations and some injuries as people tried to flee. Several people were hurt at the Mills at Jersey Gardens mall in Elizabeth, New Jersey after the sound of a thrown chair was mistaken for a gunshot and people scattered.
Applications For Gun Purchases Moving Online
State Police are reminding residents and prospective gun owners that the application process to buy a regulated firearm will soon be going digital. Come January 1st, anyone looking to purchase a gun in Maryland will be able to fill out all the required forms and pay any associated fees online through the Maryland State Police Licensing Portal. Officials say the change will make the whole process quicker and easier for both consumers and firearms dealers.
