‘I Only Meant To Scare Him’ Says Father Who Fatally Shot Teen Son. Are You Serious?!
This is so undeniably sad and unnecessary. Granted, some of today’s youth seem to be out of control at times and parents are trying almost anything to keep their children on the right path. But our world needs more prayer and better examples of how to raise a child.
“It’s just a very tragic thing,” said Washington County Sheriff Richard Stringer. “The man kιlled his own son. It just doesn’t get much worse than that.”
Stringer is speaking in response to the fact that 17-year-old McIntosh High School football player, Darius Adams, was shot in the stomach and killed at the hand of his own father.
No, it doesn’t get much worse than that.
The Alabama high school football player was gunned down by his own father Friday morning, authorities said.
“He cocked the pistol, and in the process, according to him, the pistol went off,” Stringer said.
FOX10TV also reports that the elder Adams told police he only intended to scare his son but the gun fired accidentally.
“I don’t know what went on, but I know Sexton tried to raise him right. He definitely tried to raise him right. I do know that,” neighbor Edward Thomas told FOX10.
“He’s a good man. He don’t bother nobody. He don’t do nothing but work and tend to his own business,” he said.
News reports said that the father used a .38 special to shoot his son. Darius was taken to the hospital after being shοt in the stomach but was pronounced dead at 8:10 a.m.
The father had not been charged at the time this report was filed.
Many of you remember that old Bill Cosby joke, that has even been used by Tyler Perry’s Madea character, that we all laugh at and agree with….”I brought you into this world and I can take you out.” It seems that joke has now taken on a sad and ominous meaning. Our prayers go out to this grieving family.
