It’s “Fitness Friday” – Nekos Brown, Chuck Brown – Go Go

Hello WHUR Family,

Food not only fuels our bodies, it also awakens our senses. Nature has given us the best of everything when it comes to food. We now know that the most beautifully-colored foods are also the most nutritious. And, when used in recipes, combining foods can make a beautiful presentation, have intoxicating aromas, fill our mouths with wonderful textures and flavors and create memories. So, food is clearly more than just fuel. Food also provides energy. That energy is what we commonly call calories. Let’s explore the relationships and how to make it all work for us.

- Fitness Friday Exercise Program –

Good Morning Crew, It’s “Fitness Friday”

Now, for your exercise program for today Monday and Wednesday of next week…  It‘s all about Cardiovascular. So here it is!

- Cardiovascular -

The reasons for doing cardiovascular exercises – are to work your heart, better cardiovascular conditioning, burn fat and reduce your blood pressure to name a few. You can walk, run, dance, hike, bike, swim … but whatever you do, do something that you enjoy and it puts a smile on your heart.

And your goal is to maintain your cardiovascular activity for 30 – 45 minutes 4 day per week. And before you start your exercise routine. Always tell someone where you are going, your route and estimated time to return.

Remember your goal is to become Fit and Fabulous. So, work with what you have and it’s all happening right here.

DH_Grilled Portabello1

This dish is Easy, delicious and very steak-like. I’ve used both  fresh and dried herbs, but these ‘shrooms really rock with the fresh herbs!.

Ingredients:

  • 3 portobello mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 3 tablespoons chopped onion
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

Directions:

  1. Clean mushrooms and remove stems, reserve for other use. Place caps on a plate with the gills up.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the oil, onion, garlic and vinegar. Pour mixture evenly over the mushroom caps and let stand for 1 hour.
  3. Grill over hot grill for 10 minutes. Serve immediately.
