The latest news on the James Brown Biopic

As you may have already heard late this summer Universal Pictures announced that they will release the James Brown biopic Get On Up on October 17, 2014. It will be directed by Tate Taylor, who also directed The Help. Mick Jagger is one of the producers of the film under his company Jagged Films.  What’s the latest announcement? — Nelsan Ellis has been casted as Bobby Byrd, James Brown’s long time friend and music collaborator. Other cast members confirmed include 42 star Chadwick Boseman as The Godfather of Soul, Viola Davis as his mother, Susie Brown and Octavia Brown as Aunt Honey. (At age 4 James Brown was sent to live with Aunt Honey who was also a madam of a brothel) Howard University’s own Taraji P Henson is RUMORED to be Tammi Terrell and guess who is RUMORED to play Maceo Parker?…Ralph Tresvant!!

If not Ralph Tresvant, who would you cast as Maceo Parker? (You can’t say Eddie Murphy remember he played the “James Brown” character, James Thunder Early, in the movie Dreamgirls)
